The Mikmar Short Shank is popular worldwide for all English and Western disciplines as well as for driving. The Mikmar Short Shank Bit operates through both direct action and leverage, using a leather curb strap or curb chain. It offers the unique Mikmar mouthpiece. The Mikmar Short Shank provides less leverage than the Mikmar Combination Bit and does not have the nose rope. The Mikmar Short Shank Bit offers two areas for rein placement on the cheek piece: the upper rein slot giving you more direct pressure, similar to that of a Snaffle, and the lower rein slot giving you the function of a leverage bit, applying pressure to the mouth (bars and tongue), chin and poll areas, to encourage vertical flexion. The Mikmar Short Shank is designed to be used with double reins or a single rein alone, or a single rein with a converter. The Mikmar Short Shank provides the rider excellent communication and versatility. Choose from 5 1/4" or 5 1/2".
