The Solid Mouth Full Cheek Snaffle bit is a mild bit that works on the bars and lips of the mouth. The plain, solid mouth, jointed snaffle is the bit in which many horses begin their education. It's the most basic design of bit, with a single joint in the center of the mouthpiece. When pressure is placed on the reins, the mouthpiece breaks at the joint, forming an angle which gives the tongue room. The mouthpiece acts on the lips where they cover the bars of the mouth. Some horses with a low palate may go better in a multi-jointed bit such as a French Link bit. Full cheek bits tend to give you more control and steering with external pressure from the cheek pieces against the sides of the horse's face. The cheek pieces also help with keeping the bit in place and not sliding through the mouth. Used with bit keepers, it will stay level in the horse's mouth. Made of durable, long lasting stainless steel. This Solid Mouth Full Cheek Snaffle Bit comes in 4 1/2", 5", or 5 1/2". The cheek pieces are 6 1/2" in length.
