Eggbutt Snaffles have a slightly oval (egg like) shape instead of a round ring that the reins and cheeks are attached to. They consists of a round or flat outer ring attached to a more upright, straighter cheek which is fixed to the mouthpiece. The ring can move back and forth where it attached to the cheek, but does not rotate like the loose ring, This is more stable in the horse's mouth and less likely to pinch the lips.
